| Bukaty Boosts Retirement Planning Services With Acquisition
Bukaty Companies, a Leawood insurance brokerage, said its Retirement Plan Services division has acquired and merged with The Retirement Plan Consulting Group, an Overland Park retirement consulting firm. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The combined companies will increase the Bukaty unit's retirement planning services by about 20 percent, the company estimated. The Overland Park company provides consulting services through a network of 81 independent advisors and was founded in 2002 by retirement planning veteran John Franklin. Franklin remains with the combined firm as a senior retirement plan consultant. Bukaty was founded in 1991 and provides insurance, benefits consulting and planning and related consulting services. TDA To Hold Texas Certified Retirement Community Application Workshop
Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples says the Texas Department of Agriculture is hosting a Texas Certified Retirement Community Application Workshop for any city or county interested in applying for certification. The workshop is May 4 in Austin, and will provide communities with an overview of the CRC program, as well as information on application preparation and review. Other topics include "Marketing Your Town," "Establishing an Advisory Board" and "Developing a Long term Plan." The workshop is 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Stephen F. Austin Building, Conference Room 1003A, 10th Floor. Registration is free. Space is limited to the first 30 respondents. IP offshoring to open new opportunities
NEW DELHI: The doors of the world's back office is getting ready to welcome IP service providers now. One of the first off the blocks to join the IP offshoring business is Computer Patent Annuities (CPA), the world's leading IP service provider with 40,000 clients spread over the world and renewal of 1.1 million patents and 46,000 trademarks annually. Soon after it set up its first state-of-the-art IP services delivery centre in India, it is now planning to invest $50 million for expanding its business in India, including legal process outsourcing and developing patent and domain protection softwares. The IP services market leader had set foot on Indian shores in 2005 when it acquired Intellevate, a company founded by US patent attorneys, SLWK. Intellevate is the market leader in outsourcing and off shoring solutions for IP professionals.
Lost-pension victims' Commons blow
A BID to force the Government to give extra compensation to workers who lost their pension schemes when their firms went bust failed in the Commons last night. Opposition parties tabled an amendment that would have required Ministers to pay back up to 90% of the money lost by the workers at Allied Steel and Wire in Cardiff when the firm went bust in 2002. Labour MP for Cardiff North Julie Morgan had put forward similar proposals. Chancellor Gordon Brown has already moved to meet some of her demands by beefing up the existing Financial Assistance Scheme in last month's Budget. Ms Morgan warned that the unions would look to use court action to force the Government's hand if further concessions were not made. Despite the support of 15 Labour rebels, her amendment was defeated.
